Vince Cable

Edinburgh International Book Festival/The Cornelian Asset Managers Event

I’m not an economist. Really. And I did find myself drifting in this speech, not cos I didn’t follow it, just that the subject was a little dry. (Though I did notice Jeremy Paxman sneak in from his signing next door). I’m not sure what Vince Cable’s book ‘Storm’ is even about, and I think I would have been interested in it if there had been any discussion of it. Instead the talk seemed just over old ground, and didn’t yield any insight. The questions themselves stuck solely to the topic of the economy. In a week when so much has happened in political circles it was surprising that no one took the opportunity to ask broader questions.
