dance/physical theatre feature
3 to see: Serious Physical Theatre
ThreeWeeks recommends three serious physical theatre from this year's Fringe
#1 Spaceman: An engaging sounding piece of physical theatre from a well received company about a lone survivor undergoing evolutionary mutation... yes, the subject matter’s a bit wacky, but that’s one of the reasons it sounds so engaging.
Spaceman, The Arches @ St. Stephen’s, 9 – 31 Aug (not 11, 17, 18, 24, 25), 5.30pm (6.30pm), £7.00 (£5.00), fpp121.

#2 Odyssey 117: Well, if you’re going to take a classic story and turn it into a physical theatre piece, I think ‘The Odyssey’ is a good one to choose. Acclaimed company Theatre Ad Infinitum reinvent the myth, and, as the blurb points out, really, there’s no keeping a good story down; the epic quest of one man trying to get back to his family and to exact his revenge. All the key ingredients for some quality entertainment.
Odyssey, Pleasance Dome, 5 – 31 Aug (not 17, 24), 4.20pm (5.20pm), prices vary, fpp117.
--
#3 Lola: The Life Of Lola Montez: A rather good sounding production by Trestle in Collaboration with Increpacion Danza about the life of a nineteenth century Spanish dancer, a combination of theatre, dance and live flamenco. Yay, more flamenco. Brilliant.
Lola: The Life Of Lola Montez, 9 – 30 Aug (not 17, 24), 6.45pm (7.45pm), prices vary, fpp115.
