1. What is your 2008 show all about?
An Australian comedy musician stands on stage with nothing but an acoustic guitar between him and a bewildered and possibly violent Edinburgh Fringe Audience. He attempts to soothe and delight them by playing his darkly funny songs about love, death, betrayal, God and ninjas. At the end of the show he bows and the audience clap, which is like heroin to him.
2. Why should we come and see it?
It is funny and musical, often simultaneously. And it's free. There are humourous stories told between the songs. He has a nice voice and sometimes the songs are pretty and sad. But mostly they are just funny. I mentioned it was free, right?
3. If your show was an olympic sport, what would it be and why?
Triple Jump - because it is hilarious to watch, and utterly pointless.
4. What are you most looking forward to about this year's Festival?
Overcoming all odds and complete ineligibility and winning the Nivea Funny Women Fringe Award.
5. What are you least looking forward to about this year's Festival?
Coming up with a clever and original publicity stunt that will capture the attention of the Fringe media: this year I may have to eat a live dolphin on stage. Again.
6. What advice would you have for someone trying to navigate the Fringe?
Make time to visit the Whiskey Heritage Museum on High Street and take the tour. Tell them James sent you. This will mean nothing to them.
7. What advice would you have for someone trying to survive the Fringe?
Set your goals a little higher than just surviving a four week International Fringe Festival. Maybe go back to school or read a book or something. Get some exercise.
