theatre review

null

I’ve lost count of the number of shows we’ve done. I haven’t eaten anything solid in nine days and I’m not even sure what day it is but everything’s going great. Our audiences are growing and we’re getting a good mix of people.

Then come the rains. The Pleasance Courtyard is reduced to shell-shocked performers wandering round clutching soggy flyers. Despite the biblical onslaught, our audiences hold up well. This again is thanks, in the main, to our brilliant street team who heroically keep on flyering, despite trench foot and frizzy hair. If you find yourself being handed a flyer by one of our team, please buy them a drink.

Getting our set into and out of the Cavern in the rain is tough but made easier by the brilliant staff who work through two days of solid drizzle and are always friendly, helpful and never complain. If you see them sitting out outside the Cavern, please buy them a drink.

One bright ray of sunshine is seeing Frank Woodley at the Assembly Rooms in his one man show, ‘Possessed’. It’s brilliant. All I have to do now is hang around the bar and wait to meet him… is this what they call stalking?

Martin, our intrepid technician, is still plotting to meet Henry Rollins and Britt Ekland (at the same time). He’s got his ticket for Henry, all he has to do now is get Britt to the same place. Short of kidnapping, I’m not sure how he’ll manage it.

Surprisingly, the week ends on a high when Mike McShane comes to see the show. He laughed loudly and in all the right places. He even said “hi” afterwards, what a nice guy. If you see him, please buy him a drink.
