ThreeWeeks Quick Quiz
1. Why have you decided to come and perform at the Edinburgh Festival?
I am leaving my equity card at home and have someone fantastically versatile and uber-charismatic playing the art of Bev in my new play, Clinically Famous. However, I will do a tour-de-force performance in the role of a frenetic writer while getting to bed too late, eating unwise foodstuffs, and leafleting in weather that will make my hair go frizzy and unmanageable. I hope to be convincing.
2. How are you preparing yourself for the Festival?
I am following a special pre-Edinburgh training regime by trying to get to bed too late, practicing talking too much, talking to complete strangers at random, and encouraging my hair to go frizzy and unmanageable- most people see no difference in me.
3. What are you most looking forward to about this year's Festival?
Simply this - Not NOT being there. Although I have worked in comedy for a while now (even having had numerous commissions by the Beeb etc.), I have NEVER (amazingly enough) done Edinburgh - which is, lets face it, the very 'Ideal Home Exhibition' of the performing arts - comedy in particular. I am also very much looking forward to hanging with my actor/Co Producer who is called 'Haverstock' who I thus call 'Bialystock'- given I am 'Gold,' she returns the favour by calling me 'Bloom'. We will stop doing it by the time we get to Scotland - promise!
4. What are you most fearing about this year's Festival?
My hair straightening irons not working.
5. In 30 words (no more now) why should we come and see your show?
I really was in The Priory. The cult of celebrity is universal. When previewed people loved it and laughed A LOT (If it wasn't a comedy, that would worry me!)
